He studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Bogotá, current School of Plastic Arts of the National University of Colombia , the institution would be teacher, principal and director of the Museum of Fine Arts School on several occasions.
In 1926 he traveled to Spain, where he studied at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid . In 1928 he participated in the Biennale de Barcelona. In 1944 he won first place in theNational Salon of Artists of Colombia
