Firmin Baes is a painter impressionist Belgian
He is the son of painter and decorator Henri Baes , professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels , and Heloise Boly. He had two sisters, Alice and Irma. The latter married the painter Frans van Holder . He was a pupil of Léon Frédéric at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels . He painted genre scenes and was also a talented portraitist and uses the principaleement pastel . Alex Salkin wrote "it is often confused by its ability in composition and layout" and Eugène De Seyn "Firmin Baes is a virtuoso of pastel, sometimes abusing this virtuosity." Various works are exhibited in museums in Brussels, Antwerp Bruges and Kortrijk.
