Artist Scott Bergey
Arriving late to the art world he did not start painting until the age of 30. Having no formal training, what he lacks in technique he makes up for in creativity and style. His artwork is a combination of innocence and sophistication. Clearly influenced by artists like Paul Klee and Jean Dubuffet his work is highly textured, raw and childlike although not childish. He builds from simple things – a piece of paper and a brush – but challenges himself to explore texture, colors and techniques. His pieces are contemporary but have a retro feeling. His sense of humor appearing frequently in his art. Scott favors painting abstracts and people. All his characters arrive from his imagination. His people emerge on the canvas almost as if he knows them. His abstracts (many of them in the collage style) have muted colors and a rusty rough feel. New to the formal art world Scott is slowly building a following and his future looks promising. When not painting in his studio Scott works as a pilot for a major Canadian Airline. Scott’s artwork is available online through Ugallery, Etsy or Saatchi.
